Safari Overview
This 12 Days Rwanda Primates & Tanzania wildlife safari comes to you with the best possible opportunity of encountering the primates of Rwanda as well as several of the savanna wild mammals of Tanzania. While on this 12 Days East African safari, you are in for a memorable encounter with both the giant Mountain gorillas as well the rather shy but yet fascinating Golden monkeys in Volcanoes National Park home. Some of the wild mammals you will encounter on this include lions, Cape Bufaloes, Elephants and Leopards. Besides, these big game, you still have many more to see such as the Giraffes, plain Zebras, Wildebeests and numerous antelope species.
Safari Highlight
Day 1: Arrive at Kigali airport, you will be picked up by our safari guide who will transfer you to your hotel in Kigali
Day 2: Today, you will have you visit to Kigali genocide museum then transfer to Volcanoes and visit Ibyi’wacu community.
Day 3: Engage in an epic gorilla trekking adventure in Volcanoes Park
Day 4: Today you will engage in Golden monkey trekking
Day 5: Transfer back to Kigali to catch your flight to Arusha airport in Tanzania for the second phase of this safari
Day 6: Transfer to Tarangire National Park and engage in 2 game drives.
Day 7: You will transfer to Ngorongoro and enjoy 2 game drives one in the morning and another in the afternoon
Day 8: You will cross into Central Serengeti for game drive
Day 9: This is the first day you will spend fully exploring the Serengeti plains in Central Serengeti
Day 10: Today you will drive further North in Serengeti for game drives in this part of Serengeti.
Day 11: It’s yet another full day to be spent while traversing Northern Serengeti
Day 12: The final day will have you drive back to Kilimanjaro airport to catch your outbound flight.
Detailed safari itinerary
Day 1: Meet and greet at the airport and transfer to your hotel in Kigali
Upon your arrival to Kigali International airport, you will be picked up by one of our safari guides who will warmly welcome you to Rwanda – the land of a thousand hills. The guide will then transfer you to your already booked hotel in Kigali.

Day 2: Visit the Genocide museum, transfer to Volcanoes Park and visit the Ibyiiwacu community
You will kick off this day with a visit to Kigali genocide memorial museum. This museum captures the horror of the 1994 Rwanda genocide in which this country fell into turmoil as over 800, 000 are believed to have died as the Hutu people massacred the Tutsi in a period of about 90 days. After you visit to the memorial, you embark on your transfer to Volcanoes park, home to the biggest primates on earth the giant mountain gorillas. This 110km or 2.5-3 hours journey to Volcanoes National Park takes you on a spectacular journey through the countryside of this rather pristine country. You will get to encounter numerous Rwandans going about their daily activities and these will range from trade to farming their lands. Also, expect to be blown away by the amazing rolling hills of Rwanda which surely confirm to you why this country is referred to as the land of a thousand hills. Upon arriving in Volcanoes, you will engage in a community visit to Ibi’wacu community which is found on the peripherals of this park. Here you will get to see for yourself firsthand how these locals have managed to share these lands with the wild dwellers that are so close to them. You will also get to see how the park has immensely helped in improving the lives of these communities as way of ensuring that they peacefully co-exist with gorillas without getting the urge to hunt them.

Day 3: Enjoy gorilla trekking
This day you will get you to actually meet the gorillas as you engage in a memorable gorilla trekking experience which will have you meet these gentle giants in their natural habitat. You will spend an hour observing these majestic creatures in order to have an understanding about their habits which aren’t far from our own.

Day 4: Golden monkey trekking
Day 4 of this African safari tour, will see you get to trek the rather shy but intriguing Golden monkeys that reside in the jungles of Volcanoes Park, you will wake up early for breakfast after which you will be given a briefing just like they did for the gorilla trekking. After this briefing you will embark on a guided jungle walk as you track down where the elusive monkeys are. When you find them. You will have an hour with these monkeys to observe and photograph to your satisfaction. At the lapse of this hour, you will begin your journey back to the starting point.

Day 5: Transfer to Kigali airport, fly to Arusha airport and transfer to your hotel in Arusha city
Today. you will be transferred back to Kigali airport where you will catch your flight to Tanzania and land at Kilimaanjaro Intl. airport where you will be received by our Tanzanian guide who will transfer you to hotel in Arusha city.

Day 6: Drive to Tarangire National Park for game viewing
Today you will check out of your Arusha hotel and start your journey into Tanzania’s wilderness as you get to visit Tarangire national park. Tarangire national park is one of the richest national parks in Tanzania in terms of bio dioversity as its home to numerous wild animals such as Lions, Cape Buffaloes, Elephants, Zebras and Ellands, Wildebeests and many more. It also comes with close to 500 bird species hence its never a dull place to be if you have an avid love for birds. Upon your arrival here, you will engage in a game drive to see some of the animals mentioned above.

Day 7: Transfer to Ngorongoro crater for game drives on the crater floor
Day 7 will have you cross to Ngorongoro crater, this crater was formed millions of years through the process of volcancity. After blowing off the top of what is said to been a relatively higher Ngorongoro mountain, this crater is all what is left behind and to your advantage enjoying a geological lecture isn’t the only thing that you’ve come here for, this crater is part of the larger Serengeti eco system and as such its filled with numerous wild savanna mammals and a game drive here promises nothing short of epic sightings of animals like lions, Elephants, Giraffes, Cape Buffaloes, Wildebeests, Leopards and Cheetahs etc all roaming these savanna fields.

Day 8: Drive to Serengeti for epic game drives
On the 8th day of this safari you will leave Ngorongoro crater and go to Serengeti National Park. Serengeti national park is the epitome of all Africa wildlife safari journeys as it boasts of being home to most of the African savanna wildlife species. the Serengeti eco system will stretch you gaze as it will seem to go on forever in every direction you look. A safari game drive is in Serengeti is indeed something that to look forward to by every African safari adventurer as it comes with returns of wild encounters ranging from Elephants, Lions, Cape Buffaloes, Leopards, Cheatahs, Burchells Zebras, Giraffes, and an array of antelope subspecies that roam these vast lands. For a person who is also keen for birds, Serengeti boasts of housing over 500 bird species including the Black headed Gonolek, Fischers Love bird, Grey backed Fiscal, Southern ground hornbill, Verreaux Eagle, Secretary bird and many others. At the end of this game drive you will transfer to your lodge and unwind from your today’s wild escapades.

Day 9: Unlimited game drives in Serengeti for a full day
You will wake up to the unbelievable sounds of wild Serengeti and have breakfast which you will depart from the lodge and follow on of the numerous game drive tracks in central Serengeti that have been carefully paved to optimize your chances of encountering many of the wild dwellers of this park. After about 4-5 hours of traversing Serengeti you will return to your lodge to take a lunch break in order to regain your strength that is very much need for round two of game drive that’s to come.

Day 10: Enjoy more time for unlimited game drives in a different part of Serengeti
Today will have you cross to the Northern part of Serengeti. You are entitled to 2 thrilling game drives or you can opt to engage in any of the other available optional activities which include a visit to a Masai community to indulge in a cultural exchange experience or take to the skies above the Serengeti and enjoy a bird’s eye view of the sprawling savannah grasslands and all their wild animal contents.

Day 11: Full day spent while exploring Serengeti plains
Being that you’re in Serengeti, of course you have a chance of encountering the dramatic and bewildering natural wonder of the world – The annual Wildebeest migration which sees over 2 million hooves of numerous wild animals make a tremendous and equally treacherous journey up North in search for greener pastures. The good thing with a safari to this park, in most cases, you’re more likely to encounter this migration as it happens in phases over the year given the vastness of this park.

Day 12: Drive back to Kilimanjaro where your safari with us ends
