14 Days Uganda Primates and Kenya wildlife Safari

This 14 Days Uganda Primates and Kenya Wildlife safari odyssey has been carefully crafted to give you a memorable African safari experience that you will never forget. During these 2 weeks, you will traverse some of the best African conservation areas that are going to put you in a prime position to come face to face with the savanna wild mammals of Africa. During this safari, you are set to visit savanna safari parks like Murchison falls National park and Queen Elizabeth park in Uganda, Ol-Pejeta conservancy and Nairobi National Park in Kenya which are home to a myriad of savannah mammals such as Africa’s big five which include lions, Cape buffaloes, Leopards and the African elephants. Further still, you will have a chance to enjoy a close encounter with several primates such as chimpanzees and mountain gorillas as you are set to visit Kibale national park and Bwindi National park both of which which house these rather elusive giants.

Safari Highlights

Day 1: Arrive and be picked up from Entebbe airport then transfer to your hotel in Entebbe

Day 2: Transfer to Jinja to engage in Quad biking and an evening boat cruise to the source of River Nile

Day 3: Drive to Murchison Falls National Park with an enroute visit to Ziwa rhino sanctuary

Day 4: You will engage in a morning game drive, an afternoon boat cruise and hike to the top of the falls.

Day 5: Transfer to Kibale National Park and visit Bigodi community for a cultural experience.

Day 6: Today you will trek the Chimpanzees in Kibale after which you get to transfer to Queen Elizabeth Park.

Day 7: Enjoy a morning game drive and an afternoon boat cruise on the Kazinga channel

Day 8: Today you will get to transfer to Bwindi.

Day 9: You will trek the gorillas of Bwindi on day 9.

Day 10: Day 10 will see you transfer to Kisoro and fly to Entebbe airport to connect with your flight to Nairobi where you will be received by our Kenyan safari guide.

Day 11: You will transfer to Ol Pejeta and engage in an afternoon game drive

Day 12: This day will be spent fully in Ol Pejeta with a special visit to Fatu and Najin

Day 13: You will return to Nairobi

Day 14: The final day of this Uganda Kenya tour will have you transfer to Jomo Kenyatta airport for your outbound flight.

Detailed Safari Plan

Day 1: Pick up and transfer to your hotel in Entebbe

 The first day of this safari will have you land in Uganda at Entebbe International Airport. Upon your arrival here, you will be welcomed and picked up by one of highly experienced and friendly safari guides who will make you feel at home from the first glance. He or she will help you transfer to your already booked hotel in Entebbe where you will get to unwind from the jet lag of your flight into Uganda

Day 2: Drive to Jinja and engage in quad biking

The second day of this safari will commence with you having breakfast after which our safari guide will give you a briefing now how the entire safari is going to happen. At the end of this briefing, you will check out of the lodge and kick start your 110 km or 2-3 hour journey to Jinja Uganda’s capital for adventure thrills. Upon arrival here, you will jump onto your quad bikes and begin an hour thrilling ride through the villages of Jinja’s countryside. This ride will see you get a bit dirty as its done on dirt roads but the views and the experience are worth it all. When you get to return from the ride you will take a lunch break after which you will now venture out for your second activity which will be a spectacular boat cruise on Lake Victoria. This ride will take you up to the point where the Nile river the longest river on the planet commences its journey up North all the way to the Mediterranean sea.

Day 3: Drive to Murchison Falls National Park with an enroute stop at Ziwa for Rhino trekking

You will wake early for breakfast after which you will check out of your hotel and commence on a 430km or 8-9 hours journey to Murchison Falls National Park which promises to give you thrilling encounters with a myriad of Uganda’s wildlife. Along your journey, you will make a stopover at Ziwa rhino sanctuary where an encounter with the Rhinos is assured as this sanctuary is home to an ever-growing number of Rhinos. You will have an enroute lunch at Kabalega dinners before you continue with the rest of your journey to Murchison Falls Park.

Day 4: Enjoy a morning game drive and afternoon boat cruise to the bottom of the falls

Today you will engage in a stunning morning game drive in Murchison falls National Park and this will give a face to face encounter with the dwellers of this park such as 4 of the Africa’s big five lions, African elephants, leopards and cape buffaloes among many others like giraffes and a multitude of birds. In the afternoon you will enjoy a mind-blowing boat cruise to the bottom of Murchison falls and the thunderous roar from these falls will surely let you know why they are referred to us the world’s strongest water falls. From here, you will hike to the top of these magnificent falls where you will be able to take numerous pictures in order to immortalize your visit forever.

Day 5: Transfer to Kibale National Park

This day will see you transfer to Kibale National park. Kibale Park lies about 310km or 6-7 hours’ drive through rural Uganda which makes this journey quite fascinating for a first-time traveler in this country. You will have a lunch stop in Hoima. Along the way to Kibale, look out for beautiful sightings of large tea plantations which cover the gentle hills of Fort portal and Kibale. You can take a moment to pose for photos here. If you visit coincides with the harvesting period, you will be mesmerized by the tea harvesting process which involves laborers carry large baskets over their backs which they fill with the tea leaves plucked at a lightning speed. Upon arriving in Kibale, you will pay a visit to Bigodi community where you have a cultural experience as you get to visit locals that are engaged in traditional coffee making process and local brew making.

Day 6: Trek Chimpanzees in Kibale

On this you will have a chance to have an upclose encounter with the man’s closest wild cousin the chimpanzees as you engage in an exciting chimpanzee trekking experience as Kibale national park is home to these humbling primates. After your encounter with Chimps. After your encounter with Man’s closest wild cousins, you will then transfer to Queen Elizabeth Park. As you drive to Queen Elizabeth Park, look out for the foot hills of the Rwenzori Mountain. Rwenzori mountain is home to the 3rd, 4th and 5th highest peaks in Africa hence it’s a highly sought out destination for hiking tourists. The highest peak is Magherita and it stands at a towering 5109m above sea level hence it enables its hikers to experience snow at the equator since its snow-capped throughout the year.

Day 7: Morning game drive in the Kasenyi plains and an afternoon boat ride on the Kazinga channel

This day will see you being exposed to what Queen Elizabeth national park has to offer. You will kick off with an early morning game drive where you meet more of Uganda wildlife mammals which include lions, Cape buffaloes African elephants Topis Bush bucks. In the afternoon enjoy another round of thrilling boat ride as you get to cruise the Kazinga channel and this comes with numerous encounters with hippos, more grassland wild animals and a myriad of bird species as this park is home to 600 bird species

Day 8: Transfer to Bwindi passing via Ishasha sector for possible tree climbing lion sightings

 You will depart from your lodge and embark on a 220km or 5-6 hours drive to Bwindi. You will pass through Ishasha sector and if you’re lucky you might catch glimpses of the tree climbing lions that have this place highly sought out for game drives.

Day 9: Trek Mountain gorillas

Today is the day you will get to meet the incredible gorillas while on this Uganda safari tour! You will have a satisfying breakfast very early in the morning at 6:30 am then you will be transferred to the park offices where you will receive a short briefing about the dos and don’ts that should be observed during this gorilla trekking adventure. After this briefing, you will set off into the jungle on your search for the gorillas in the lead of a very skilled armed ranger guide who will also help you make sense of the numerous attractions that you will find along the search for the gorillas and these include several of the 350 bird species that have made this park an incredible birding destination to many birders on their Uganda birding adventure.

Day 10: Fly to Entebbe for a connecting flight to Jomo Kenyatta airport Nairobi

Today you will transfer to Kisoro and catch a flight to Entebbe for your onward flight to Nairobi. You will have lunch in Entebbe before you fly to Nairobi. You will be received at Jomo Kenyatta international airport Nairobi city upon your arrival by one of our expert safari guides who will usher into Magical Kenya. You will then be transferred to your Nairobi hotel.

Day 11: Transfer to Ol- Pejeta Conservancy

On this day, you will leave Nairobi city and drive to Ol Pejeta conservancy which lies about 230km or 3-4 hours drive from Nairobi city. When you arrive in Ol Pejeta, you will engage game drive which exposes you to several of the wild game here including Cape Buffaloes, Elephants, Lions, this conservancy boosts of being the only place in the entire world that is home to 3 different species of Rhinos which include the Black rhino, both the Northern and Southern white rhinos are also present.

Day 12: Visit Fatu and Najin and then do an afternoon game drive

Today you will spend the day exploring this savanna paradise that is filled with numerous wild mammals. You will kick off the day with a search for Fatu and Najin the only 2 remaining Northern White rhinos that are kept in this conservancy under 24 hour protection from the watchful eyes of the conservancy’s rangers. The story of Fatu and Najin is a tragic given that these 2 are the only remaining northern white rhinos in the world but they are both female hence casting a big dark cloud over the continuation of this particular species of rhinos in the world which is now on the cusp of extinction. However, it is not all dull and grey for this particular subspecies given the massive efforts spearheaded by some of the best doctors on the planet who doing all that’s humanly possible to see to that they can harvest viable cells with a hope of using these cells to scientifically reproduce another white rhino.

This is the last day of this tour and after breakfast, you will check out of the hotel and drive to Jomo Kenyatta airport in time for your outbound flight.
